Visit with Grandpa and Grandma Riley

Labor Day weekend was Grandpa and Grandma Riley’s annual visit.  It just so happens that this year they came to see us twice, once when Jeremiah was born and again on Labor Day.

As always, I didn’t take near enough pictures.  Grandpa taught the boys to play Euchre, so we spent a lot of time playing Euchre.  Grandpa also made a bean bag toss game for us and Grandma painted all our names on them; they brought the game with them and that was used quite a bit as well.  I think Grandma did some stamping with children in small groups too.

One day we went to Oak Run to have lunch with Grandpa and Grandma Plattner.  They took us out on the boat and later we enjoyed cake and ice cream for Jesse and Johanna’s birthdays.

In the background of the above picture you can see Grandpa Plattner on the jet ski with one of the younger children.

Johanna got a new tricycle for her birthday.

Jesse got Jonathan Park CD’s.  They really enjoy them and the children learn a lot of evidence for creation through them.

Where have we been?

Where have we been?

Well, the post on our Plattner family vacation I prepared a LONG time ago but it wouldn’t upload at the time for me and I forgot about it till I was checking where I should begin.

Between school, holidays, and a month of sickness traveling to and fro seeking whom it may devour, we haven’t had time to focus on blogging.

Jolene loves to blog, but she needs a lot of editing help and that is another thing I don’t have a lot of time for.

I am currently the one sick.  I have had the flu (fever, aches, pains, sore throat, cold to hot and back again kind of flu).  I didn’t even feel like blogging until this AM – I’ve been awake since Jeremiah woke me around 3:30 or was it since Jonas woke me up a little earlier?

I will try to get caught up with a year in review before too long!

Aunt Heather made cake suckers ~ I don’t know what they are really called.  They were pretty and yummy!

What’s a gathering without bringing out the laptops?  They weren’t the only ones.

We gathered at Clint and Bethany’s for 2 days.  Our family stayed with them and the rest had various places to sleep.

Fun at the Plattners

Example of our corny humor.

The cows are in the electric fence area right now where they have a tendency to get out. I can see them from where I sit, just about 50 yards past our garden. I just hollared to Jesse "Are the cows supposed to be in the garden?" That got the boys to scrambling. Javan, seeing there were no cows in the garden said "it just looked like it from where you are sitting." I said "No, I was just pulling a Jesse, I knew the cows weren't in the garden, I just wondered if they were supposed to be."

Jesse laughed the hardest.

I know it's not all that funny, but that's the kind of joking around I get all day every day. Sometimes it's funnier than other times!

PS Chad wouldn't find it a bit funny!  Jesse has my humor.  :)
