A break through ~ Hallelujah!

I am rejoicing so thought I would share it with you. Those of you in education can relate I'm sure! Jared finally clicked with blending today. He did fine when he learned his first blends la le li lo lu. When we added ta te ti to tu he would say t - a - la! I put the blends aside for awhile and consentrated on the letters and their sounds again and yesterday we brought out the blends again and he's getting it. Thankfully I had a preschool book that we never used much out of so I am using it for awhile till he is ready to move forward in his kindergarden book. I was afraid I would have to teach him all summer, maybe we'll get past the initial learning to read and we can just practice this summer. I didn't want to be teaching Jared and Jolene to read at the same time, it would be hard on Jared if Jolene was on the same level as he is.

He also picked up on his math and penmanship recently and is doing great.

Some children's strengths are in different areas and we just have to be patient and let them develop at the pace God gave them!

Sometimes they get it, sometimes they don't!!!

We were at a friends house Friday evening for supper. After supper the father read the account of Jesus being taken to Pilot. Seemingly out of nowhere Jolene starts talking about a video we watched about airplanes. I was completely baffled until one of the men realized that she heard "Pilot" and immediately started thinking about airplane "pilot's"!

Short and sweet, just as you like it Mark!

I have pictures to blog with but blogger keeps giving me fits. I've tried several times over the last two days all to no avail.

Jubilee woke up Friday morning (early) with croup but a steam treatment (hot shower running in small room) cleared her up pretty well. I took her to bed with me and before I was ever asleep Jonas woke up croupie too. He is the first child that a steamy shower didn't work for. His lasted about three days. Thankfully it was never bad, I did the steamy room a couple times for him.

I took Jolene out for supper on Thursday when we ran errands and then we bought her a comb and brush set, some head bands, and some bubble gum chap stick. Would you believe my daughters primary love language is gifts! She went from being a grouchy little girl to a sweet heart and she hasn't let up yet. We talked about how she is five now and needs to learn to take care of herself better and she should comb her hair every day and I would help her put it up if she wasn't going to wear her headband (hasn't happened yet). She couldn't wait to take a shower "all by herself", of course, I was standing outside to help with her hair until she gets used to that. She has been telling people for a couple months that her birthday was coming, but now that it's past, she tells even more people "I'm 5". :)

I guess that's all for now since I can't upload any pictures. We are looking forward to the spring weather and being able to spend time outside more often.

Have a blessed week in the Lord!

My new dishes :)

After 10 years using my Pink Trio dishes, I finally got down to only 7 large plates, enough for one meal for our family. After considering our options I came upon the Watercolors set which includes a luncheon plate and 11 oz mug instead of a salad/desert plate, saucer and tea cup. For years all I've used was the dinner plates and bowls and occasionally the other things. Now we use the whole set all the time and I don't run out of dishes! :)

The cheapest price I found was $60.00 per box of 4 place settings, but Amazon.com had them for $50.00. When I went to check out my 4 boxes I was overjoyed to find they had a 3 for 4 special going on, so I received 16 place settings for $150.00 and free shipping! What a deal! Compare that to 240.00 plus shipping!

I'm hoping to list my old dishes on e-bay. I took the pictures, but I don't know when I will make the time to list them.

I'm still here!

Just thought I'd let you know that I'm still here! I have been taking pictures but haven't had the time to put them on the computer and blog them.

We are thankful to be past the chicken pox. We have all been staying well and hope to stay that way.

Earlier this week we had some snow and I went out with the children to play in it. Today we had a 60 degree day and the children were outside barefooted for a little while!

I will try to find time to blog some pictures later.
