Dinosaur Valley State Park

Tuesday we spent the day at the hotel till about 3PM or so when Chad returned and we drove an hour to Dinosaur Valley State Park. There we saw, preserved in shallow water along the Paluxy River, some real Dinosaur Tracks (at least it appears that way). One of the boards we read said that some people claim that there are human footprints preserved right along with some Dinosaur tracks, some they say are just smudged dinosaur tracks that people try to say are human and others are deliberate fakes. We didn't see any, but you know what we believe!

This is the only still shot of a dinosaur track I got, the rest is on video (if it turned out). There was a place that had quite a few really big tracks, you could imagine the steps it took across that area. I can't explain the science behind why they are preserved, but it was interesting to learn about.

It was very interesting, but the best part for the children was the shallow area with rocks to walk across the river.

Of course they would try to jump between rocks that were a little farther than a step, sometimes they would make it, sometimes they wouldn't. :) The older children all had wet shoes, but managed to keep their clothes pretty dry.

Texas Adventure 2007

We are on the beginning of our Texas trip. We left Saturday morning and drove to Lamar, MO where we stayed with Alfred and Carolyn Banwart and went to church with them on Sunday. They invited two couples with young children in for supper Saturday evening and our children enjoyed some playmates.

After spending most of the day in church we drove about 4 hours to Oklahoma City to eat supper with Uncle Al and Aunt Sally. We met at an IHOP near our hotel. We waited for close to an hour for our order to arrive and mentioned that to the manager so he offered dessert on him, so guess what, we ordered dessert and got to wait again!!! Thankfully we were in good company or it would not have been worth the wait for the free dessert.

After having spent so much time sitting on Sunday our children were about bouncing off the wall and were not very well behaved at the restaurant. We were glad for the opportunity to see Uncle Al and Aunt Sally as they live so far away it is only about once a year we usually get to see them.

This picture is from Monday morning at the hotel cleaning out the van before we got back on the road to drive to Hillsboro, TX. There are two farmers in the area here that Chad will be working with while they are planting.

Now it is Tuesday and Jesse, Javan and Jubilee are sleeping while Jared and Jolene are entertaining themselves with some puzzles and games I brought for while we are in the hotel. Chad should be back shortly and then we may go to a park to hike for awhile.

I am really enjoying the high speed connection at our hotel. I can upload pictures lickety split. :) If I could do this at home, you might here from me more often. :)

We plan to be on our trip for approximately two weeks, so stay tuned for more updates on our Texas adventure 2007!!!

Fun at the Plattners

The children really enjoyed all the snow we got a couple weeks ago. Chad scooped snow off our cement pad in front of the garage and made a huge pile that they climbed on, slid down, and dug holes through. They had a hole all the way through and also one from the top to the middle hole.
Jared, Jolene, Javan and Jesse on top of the snow pile.
Making bread one day, I left my mess on one counter to go to a clean counter to divide my dough and put it in pans. While my back was turned Jubilee got into my flour and cinnamon on the messy counter. Thankfully, making bread is so messy anyway that my cleanup wasn't a whole lot worse with the exception of a little extra laundry. :)

Who gets to sit on daddy's lap tonight?

The children often argue over who gets to sit on our laps,
so Chad solved the problem, for a short time anyway!

Sometimes you just do crazy things!

Visit to Great Grandma Brinkers in January

Grandma and LauraLee

Great Grandma and 5 of her 10 "Greats"

Good thing we got the last one!

Pizza with Grandma

In January we visited Great Grandma Brinkers house before her move to Ohio. She had trouble thinking about anything but the upcoming move but I think she was glad we were there anyway. She played a couple games with us and we had pizza for supper Saturday evening.
