Last weekend Matt and Dana Knapp came for a visit. Every time we tried to get together over the last 6 months or so it never worked out so Matt had the wisdom to say let's just set a date. We did and it's a good thing or we probably would never have gotten together for another several months.
They came on Friday night in time for supper. The children played awhile and we had family devotions before heading off to bed then the adults visited longer than we should have but not as long as we used to; we headed to bed around midnight - we aren't as young as we used to be!!!
This is the majority of the group. Javan is between Dana and Seth and hidden by Caleb, Jubilee is hidden by Jonas. Matt and Dana were married several months before us and the twins (Joshua and Caleb) were born 3 weeks after Jonas; evening us out at 6 children a piece with 3 - 2 year old boys to entertain us.
The children enjoyed playing several games of Clue together.
Megan and Jolene enjoyed being together and this wasn't the only time Megan did Jolene's hair!
Caleb - in the car, Joshua - sticking out his belly, and Jonas on the tractor. I wanted a better picture of them all together but never took the time.
On Saturday we loaded up and went canoeing down the Mackinaw river that runs just about 1/4 - 1/2 mile from our house. We had 4 canoes in all, we allowed 3 of the older children to man their own canoe. There was plenty of blaming going on of who was at fault that they couldn't go straight down the river. It was usually pointed at the man in the rear until a certain someone got in the rear and then it was everyone else's fault! Go figure!!!
It was a wonderful time together our only regret is that we can't do it more often!!!

Jared's birthday
Happy Birthday Jared!!!
I'm a little late in posting Jared's birthday but we did celebrate it on the actual day. Jared turned 8 on July 15 and the highlight was that he no longer has to sit in a booster seat in the van.
I knew what I wanted to get him, but the time I was out without him they didn't have what I wanted so he got to help choose, he chose what I intended to get him; I didn't have this exact combo in mind, but something similar.
He is quite happy with his gift and so is his little brother!!! :)
I made warm brownies for his birthday and we had ice cream and hard shell topping. Jared chose just to eat the ice cream and topping.
We started decorating for birthdays last November, we make posters and hang crepe paper. Our cleaning girls helped with the decorating and I think it embarassed Jared because he didn't want me to take pictures. So I will try to take some pictures of Jubilee's decorations next week.

I've got baby on the brain and I need your help!
As I was pondering this post and as I look forward to Baby J's arrival I went back to look at the pictures from our other babies. I thought I would share one of each child with you and then I will tell you what I need help with.
Jonas Daniel Plattner 5/13/2007 9 lbs 15 oz
Here's what I need from you. NAME ideas!!! We still have not come up with a name for a girl or a boy. We have a couple ideas for a boy, but nothing in concrete. We like names that are a little different or uncommon. The name can not rhyme with the other names as it causes confusion to who is being called. Oh and if you haven't noticed it needs to begin with J!!!
Give as many names as you can think of. I look forward to hearing from you.

My sweet husband had our house landscaped for me last fall and I LOVE it!!! Some of the flowers were blooming better earlier but I didn't get any pictures taken. Jesse mowed the lawn today so I took pictures while it looks nice.

Cleaning help!!!
I decided to have a late Spring cleaning this year because we have a big conference being held at our church this year and we are hosting company. Every couple years I have one or two of Chad's cousins girls come and help and they help with things that don't necessarily get done as often as they should.
I still have plenty of cleaning out and reorganizing that I want done this summer, but windows, lights, kitchen cabinets, and various other things are done. They go home tomorrow.
Jolene has been loving every moment of them being here, although I don't know if they have always enjoyed "Little Miss Social's" company. If I had a nickel for every question she asked I'd be getting myself a nice little treat!

Independance Day 2009
4th of July has always meant family gatherings in Mt Morris IL with my Mom's family. 3 years ago we had our last celebration with all but 1 living family member present. Times change and this weekend some of the family is in Ohio since that is where my Grandma now resides.
My thoughts have gone many times to the longing for the celebrations of the past to continue in the present. So I will start this weekend from a picture from our last Brinker Independance Day Celebration. We have similar shots for many many years past.
All of you Brinkers out there reading this, know that I love each of you and miss being together!!!
The Biggest (smallest) attraction of the weekend! The newest addition to our family Daisha Leigh. It was observed that the girls couldn't walk by without petting a bit. :)
Daisha Leigh - This is Kirk and Keri's baby. Born 4 weeks early in Jamaica, had somewhat of a rough start, they were able to get a medical transport, and now she is home! Praise the Lord she is doing well!!! She will be 3 weeks old on Monday.
To preface the following pictures, Independance Day dawned with rain!!! When we realized the weather wasn't likely to change till evening, the first question asked is "how do we keep 12 children entertained all day without going stir-crazy?" We discussed the possibility of finding a museum in nearby Galesburg. One of the men said "why don't we just take the $5 it would cost for each child and go to WalMart - they'd have a blast!!!" So that is what we did.
Picking out their purchases. Treasures ranged from mini-baby doll sets to cars, trucks, or tractors to 5 items from the $1.00 section!!!
The other idea that came up was to buy t-shirts and let the children decorate them. Here they are picking out what color they want. Mom purchased a pack of fabric markers and the children had lots of fun!!!
Because of the rain we did not let them wear their new shirts because it was down to just a bit of a drizzle and they were able to play outside for awhile. We are planning to take Dad and Mom's Christmas picture with all the grandchildren in their new shirts tomorrow. I hope to post more pictures later.
It turned out that both ideas went over very well with the children and we had a nice day together - In The House!!!
Jonas spends lots of time playing with cars, trucks, tractors, and trailers.
He spent many happy hours playing with the toys Grandma brought for the little boys.

Waiting for the parade.

Now for this years celebration!!!
For various reasons Chad's brother Kyle and our sister in law Bethany and her children all needed a ride to Oak Run (the lake house where we were to spend the weekend). It was pretty rewarding to be able to load them all up in our 15 passenger van. So the first picture is of our nearly full "Bus."

Aunt Bethany and Tyler walking through WalMart together, I Love this picture and would edit it to crop out the rest, but that is not my skill and I don't have time to figure it out!!!
