Out of the Mouth of Babes

This evening we went to Todd and Val Steiner’s house for supper and they also had Dean and Amy Kaisner’s family over in the evening for fellowship and singing.

Toward the end of the night Johanna started crying.  When I asked her what was wrong she said “Jackson hit me.”  (Jackson is 3).

His Daddy stepped in and this is a bit of what followed…

Dean - “Jackson, did you hit Johanna?”

Jackson – “yes”

Dean – “what did you hit her with?”

Jackson – held up a train

Dean – “and what did that do to Johanna when you hit her?”

Jackson – “Stressed her out!”

That was just too cute not to share!

Work Team Trip

Chad and the oldest boys, Jesse, Javan, and Jared, just left for a work team trip near Athens, Alabama.  Our church is building several homes in an area that was damaged by Tornados.  This will be the first trip for the boys and I presume a good experience.  We went to Jamaica several years ago and they helped some there, but this will be a whole different experience.

They are driving our van and picking up a group of men on the way out.  I believe the others are Dale Koch, Rustin Schmidgall, Josh Bolliger, Brett Herrmann, and Bruce Schaefer.  They drive to Athens today and will be fellowshipping with our Church there and then will be driving to their base camp sometime after church tomorrow.  There will be groups from other congregations there also, it sounds like a fun time of meeting new people and working together to help others.  The plan is for them to be home by 6PM next Saturday.

They took two cameras so hopefully the boys will be able to blog about their trip later.

There were plenty of tears shed by the women folk as we were saying goodbye and I’m hoping the mood around here will change before too long.  Constant boo hooing can get old pretty quickly.

I have a couple ideas for fun activities this week but if anyone has anything to contribute let me know.  I’m hoping to do some reorganizing, play with the children, and keep things in order.  This is my opportunity for nesting – a little early – because we will be doing school up till the baby is born in early May.

Please keep the work team in your prayers throughout the coming week.

First outing...

...of the pigs. This evening the pigs broke our ho hum for us when someone hollered the pigs are out. Everybody jumped up from whatever they were doing and ran outside; I ran out to the barn and grabbed some corn. The corn really wasn't necessary for the little pigs because they came at call when we ran to the barn probably thinking they were going to be fed as normal. Silly Sally followed the corn back to the barn so it really was pretty easy to do. This is the first time we have had our pigs escape so, of course, we wanted to find out how they had managed to get out of the pasture. We quickly found that somebody had not latched the door to the stable and the pigs had used there strong snouts to get it open. It is a sliding door and it's not like it's some door that easily swings open or something. We were glad that they had not broken through our very hard worked for fence which they say is the best fence style there is. The other part of the day has not been very productive that"s why I called it ho hum. Its been very rainy and gloomy so we really couldn't be outside and to add to it Dad, Jesse, and Jubilee were sick with some stomach thing. Later this evening as we were pleasantly enjoying our supper someone puked! Not pleasant in the least. Tomorrow the plan is to go to a wedding reception and then to Grandma and Grandpa Plattners ( I actually should have said the plan used to be because we really don't know what this stomach thing is going to turn out to be.) Hope to see you Tremont people in church tomorrow. Javan.
