Obituary
White Tailed Deer of Tremont IL shot through
the back of the lungs by hunter Javan Plattner
on October 8th, 2011. She dropped on impact
but shortly thereafter was back up again; she
made a bee-line for the woods and then dropped
ten yards from the hunters stand. The hunter
watched as the deer got up and stumbled into
the woods and out of sight. The deer died within
thirty yards of the hunters stand. She was succeeded
by two older fawns who upon finding their mother dead
ran away with a snort. The butchering will be held
on either Monday or Tuesday at the Plattner home.
Please do not read the remainder of this blog if you can’t handle pictures of a dead deer being dissected!
The deer showed up just in the nick of time as it was almost too late to shoot. When I saw that I hit the dear I got a big rush of adrenaline (sometimes called buck fever) and I was shaking all over; Jared was with me and he was the same way. He called dad on the walkie-talkie and in an excited voice said “Dad, Javan shot a deer! He really shot a deer! We sat in the stand for about 45 minutes and then tracked it. Dad stepped it out from where the first blood was to where the tree stand was and it was about 60 yards - 180 feet.
Transportation
In this picture you can see where the bullet entered.
Field dressing and a little anatomy lesson for the younger children.
Because it has been warm we had to cut it into big chunks that could go in our refrigerator that night. Dad and I stayed up late doing that while the rest except mom were in there beds.
Hunting was a fun experience hopefully there will be more deer in the future.

Javan, that is a great story of your personal adventure. I like how you describe the hunt in an obituary format!
