Now that I have plenty of time on my hands (Jeremiah takes 45 minutes to an hour to nurse) I thought I would finish some blogs that were started but never posted.
Our weekend started Friday morning. Chad took all the children with him to Princeville. He dropped the 3 youngest off at Dad and Mom Plattners house and then took the 4 oldest with him to go cut wood with his brothers and Tyler. I stayed home because I was trying to have all our bags packed as well as possible for our trip to Ohio before I went to Princeville.
I met my new sister in law at their place in Morton and we rode together in the afternoon. It was a nice opportunity to visit and get to know each other a little.
Our meal was around 4:15 or so. Mom P. has a recipe for an AWESOME Prime Rib! We look forward to it every Christmas. Along with that we had a green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, lettuce salad, fruit salad, mashed potatoes, and bread. For dessert we had pecan pie and homemade ice cream.
I was pretty tired from short nights and lack of good naps over the past couple days, trying to get ready for our big Ohio trip, so I didn’t get a whole lot of pictures the rest of the evening.
I did get some pictures of Dad and Mom opening a special gift though! A little background ~ Dad and Mom have been doing taffy pulls for years and in the last few have become in high demand at nursing homes. Someone came up with the idea of getting Dad and Mom a matching tie and apron set to wear when they are pulling taffy. It remains to be seen if they (Dad) will actually wear them, but below are the pictures of their reactions.
One of the highlights of the evening was a Powerpoint presentation that Chad put together of “Dadisms” and a few “Momisms” he and his brothers came up with. Dad has a LOT of sayings he uses or little diddy’s he sings.
One of the diddy’s is
I was looking back to see
if she was looking back to see
if I was looking back to see
if she was looking back at me.
I can’t think of any Dadisms right now though the list was large.
We stayed all night and the next morning the men took the boys to a local diner for breakfast and then went to shoot skeet at a farm in the country. Mom hosted a Tea Party for the girls and we ladies had breakfast upstairs. I will post pictures from the Tea Party next; it’s worthy of a separate post!
