Grandma Plattner has been a wonderful support the first week after Jeremiah’s birth!
I usually haven’t taken the time to sleep properly and am pretty exhausted for night time feedings, but I am taking full advantage of sleeping in and taking a good nap in the afternoon. It makes night time feedings a lot easier – probably helping with getting Jeremiah to sleep longer because I have more energy to make sure he nurses well before we go back to sleep! That hasn’t always been the case and so maybe has been part of previous issues. Jeremiah has been going 4 hours from the beginning of one feeding to the beginning of the next. He takes about an hour to nurse and so I get about 3 hours sleep at a time. Tonight I had to wake him up! We slept for 4 hours but I didn’t want him to go too long without nursing until my milk supply is fully established! Hopefully it’s a sign of things to come!
Having Grandma here and 2 boys able to care for Jeremiah unchaperoned makes it easy to get my rest.
I’ve also felt like I needed the extra rest and break from household duties. My hip issue didn’t clear up right away as it did with Johanna, in fact, today is the first day I haven’t had discomfort. Add to that soreness from a difficult delivery and I just declared myself on vacation until further notice!
Grandma Plattner has come to help 4 or 5 days – I can’t remember exactly how many!
She has brought many meals, helps the children with breakfast and lunch, and helps keep order!
The children have enjoyed listening to her read books and play games together.
We are looking forward to Grandpa and Grandma Riley and Aunt Cori’s visit this weekend!
It will be an extra special weekend, I get to spend Mother’s Day with my Mom! It is Jonas’ birthday on Sunday – he was my Mother’s Day gift 5 years ago. It is also my sisters birthday on Monday!
